I’ve delayed writing this wrap-up on our look at the Holy Spirit for some reason. I’m not exactly sure why. I think it has partly been because I have been busy and it’s hard to collect my thoughts with so many distractions. I think another reason for the delay is because I’m not sure how to put my thoughts and feelings into words. It’s hard to describe something that has impacted your life so profoundly.

I am quite certain that I never would have been saved if not for the Holy Spirit. He was there with me through the years of being lost, comforting me and whispering of God. I give Him credit for bringing someone that talked of God into my life, and for giving them wisdom to know how to reach me. Holy Spirit watered their seeds with thoughts about God, and caused the light of truth to shine on them so they sprouted into faith.

As I learned God’s word over the years, Holy Spirit used that knowledge to transform my thinking. He’s helped me understand God and apply those revelations in my life. He has been my Helper on many occasions, telling me things I needed to know and guiding me to do things that benefited me. Holy Spirit is one with God and Jesus, and I have learned to listen to Him and to trust Him. I give Him control of my tongue when I don’t know what to pray or I need to be built up in faith and I quickly feel peace about the situation.

When Jesus said it was better that He go so that Holy Spirit could come, He was right. Jesus couldn’t be everywhere at once, but Holy Spirit is. Like Jesus, Holy Spirit shows us the Father – His ways, His wisdom, and His love. He is a companion, counselor, teacher, and comforter. What a friend we have in Holy Spirit!
